Events outline for 2021 season

The England Touch Association has outlined the calendar for the 2021 season with the focus on trying to ensure as many opportunities for everyone to participate in a safe and secure environment.

There will be opportunities for clubs and teams to compete on a regional and national basis at development and elite levels, with a number of weekends set aside for Opens, Seniors and Masters, and Junior Nationals, along with High Performance training camps ahead of the Home Nations International Series.

The month of May and much of June have been kept free from national events to ensure a safe return to play and allowing for regional activity to take place. This is currently being worked on with the regional teams, with activity expected to include a range of events, training and development days. Clubs should contact their regional leads for further information (contact details HERE).

The National Touch Series will again be managed centrally by the ETA. All National Touch Series events will be one-day competitions, with both the Elite and Development NTS sharing Saturdays and Sundays. Full details, including venues will be announced shortly.

REFEREES

Please bear in mind that once we get back into National tournaments, we'll be needing referees on games so now is the perfect time to develop your ref capabilities. While we'll try to be flexible, there will be some requirements for referees over the summer so there's a couple of ways to get ahead of the game.
  • Get in touch with your refs! If your club had full-time referees, or even players who helped out now and then, now is the time to get in contact and work out how to get them along in the summer. We'll be offering expenses and circulating signup forms once everything is confirmed
  • Develop your player referees. While we're running small-scale tournaments, we'll look to help you out with getting some Level 1 badges in a couple of ways. Firstly courses are still online so it'll never be easier to get your players up to speed with the rules and ready to help out on the pitch. Secondly, if you contact us (refs@englandtouch.org.uk) with your regional tournaments, we'll try and get ref coaches out to upgrade your player referees to Level 1
