Another new venue for Uni NTS
The University National Touch Series heads to its second new venue this Saturday, with the northern universities going head-to-head at West Park Leeds RFC.
It is the latest home of professional or semi-professional rugby to host an England Touch event, with The Sycamores having been the home of Leeds Tykes (formerly Yorkshire Carnegie) in the RFU Championship and National League 1 since 2019. When the Tykes were in the Premiership their A team also called West Park Leeds ‘home’, so the university teams will be following in some illustrious footsteps this weekend.
Loughborough will be looking to build on their strong Round 1 showing, where they took home the Cup title. Leeds also had a good Round 1, their first team reaching the Cup final, and they are continuing their run of entering two teams into a University NTS event and no doubt looking to make the most of home advantage, too.
We look forward to welcoming Manchester into their first University NTS of the season.
Overall 10 teams will be in Leeds divided into two pools, and while the forecast is for classic Uni NTS November weather the artificial pitch and floodlights will make for a fast surface and clear vision!
The top two teams from each pool will go into the Cup, with the third and fourth-place teams going into the Plate, and the fifth-place teams facing each other in a play-off.
The first tap off is at 9am, with the Cup final at 4:50pm.
