Bath swoop to top Uni NTS South table

Bath Hawks will top the University National Touch Series South table going into Christmas after taking home the Cup title at Surrey Sports Park.

Bath had finished second in Oxford in Round 1, but are now top because Exeter 1, who had won in Oxford, could only finish third this time around following a semi-final defeat to Cardiff.

Cardiff had lifted the Plate in Round 1, but went into the top four courtesy of a perfect pool round which included wins over Bath 2 and Oxford Brookes. This put them into a quarter final against Exeter 4, and then the semi-final against Exeter 1, which the Welsh team won 3-2.

The score in the final was the same, but in favour of Bath Hawks, who had beaten Bath 2 and Exeter 2 in the knockout stages to book their place in the final.

Bristol maintained their record of reaching the Cup quarter finals, and they were joined in the top eight by Surrey 1, who made a significant step up from winning the Bowl last time out to finish second in their pool and then seventh overall.

Bath 2 made it a double trophy day for their university, seeing off Bristol in the Plate final 4-2. And the Bowl went to Exeter 4, who beat Southampton 7-4 in that final.

The University National Touch Series now takes a well-deserved break until February, and the first of three national tournaments which will all be held in Nottingham. CLICK HERE for more info!
