Multiple Touch tournaments to be streamed by BBC Sport
Multiple Touch tournaments will be streamed on the BBC Sport website and app in 2019, following a new agreement with England Touch.
The first of these will be this weekend’s European Club Championships, which sees 18 clubs from 11 countries head to Maidenhead RFC in Berkshire for a weekend of international competition.
This will be followed on the August bank holiday by The Nationals, England Touch’s premier domestic tournament which is a major stepping stone for players on the road to the 2020 European Touch Championships.
England Touch has established a positive relationship with BBC Sport over the last 12 months, with the 2018 European Touch Championships, 2018 Nationals and 2019 Touch World Cup all being streamed via their website and app.
This is in addition to England Touch’s live streaming of its Elite club tournaments on YouTube over the past 18 months, working with broadcast partner 247 Media.
England Touch Chief Operating Officer Gregg Cropper is delighted that BBC Sport has agreed to stream multiple tournaments this year.
“Having Touch be streamed on the BBC Sport website and app has been massive for the sport, both here in England and internationally,” he said.
“We’ve seen our participation numbers grow and more clubs becoming affiliated as well as wanting to play in our tournaments. And we know that players across the world have appreciated the coverage and exposure, too.
“It has also been brilliant to see all our teams and players embrace what we are trying to achieve by promoting the sport, which has helped us massively, and we’re looking forward to seeing more Touch on BBC Sport during August.”
The European Club Championships will be live streamed at the following times:
Saturday, August 3rd – 10:45am to 6:00pm
Sunday, August 4th – 8:15am – to 4:00pm
