Bath continue Uni NTS winning form

Bath Hawks consolidated their place at the top of the Uni National Touch Series standings by taking home the Cup title from Loughborough last weekend.

The Hawks took on the hosts in the Cup final, and while they won 5-2 the final result belied the closeness of the match overall.

Indeed both of the semi-finals showcased the quality and competitiveness that the Uni NTS has been developing. Loughborough reached the final by a one-touchdown margin over Nottingham, while Bath’s own semi-final went to a drop-off against Exeter 1.

This was both the biggest Uni NTS event in the Series’ history – 20 teams having travelled to the East Midlands – and was the first time that a tournament had been tiered to reflect the differing experiences of the various teams. The 20-strong group of referees represented the largest #TeamRef at a Uni NTS tournament, too.

Two universities, Keele and Durham, were represented for the first time and both made finals, Keele beating Oxford in the Shield and Durham going down 3-2 to Exeter 4 in the Bowl.

Elsewhere Exeter 2 beat Bristol 1 in the Plate final and there was silverware for the host club to celebrate, Loughborough 2 beating Southampton in the Salver final.

The Uni NTS reaches its conclusion in Bath on March 23rd.
