2018 Touch Nationals Preview | Women's 27s and 35s

This is the second year of the Masters categories having their own divisional Touch Nationals, and this category has expanded from purely Women’s 35s teams to also include Women’s 27s teams, too.

England is the leading nation in Europe in both categories, with the Women’s 27s the reigning European champions and the Women’s 35s having won their three-Test series against Scotland in Nottingham earlier this summer.

South-East Renegades are the reigning national Women’s 35s champions, and they finished ahead of the West Wildcats, Northern Diamonds and Southern Stars in Droitwich last year.

This category has expanded rapidly in just 12 months and six teams will compete in Oxford, with the Midlands Tigers entering teams in both the 27s and 35s, Northern Blades in the 27s, and South-East Samurais, South-West Saxons and West Wildcats all in the 35s.

The teams will play in a round-robin, with the Midlands Tigers and Northern Blades facing each other to decide the Women’s 27s champion, and the first and second-placed 35s teams going through to their category final.

This tournament will also give players the opportunity to stake a claim for selection for the High Performance Training Squad ahead of the 2019 World Cup.

The 2018 Juniors and Masters Nationals are being held at Oxford RFC on the weekend of September 15th and 16th. This tournament is not being live streamed, although we hope to have the finals of each category shown on the England Touch Facebook page.
