Women's Open Category preview
The Women's Open category could once again prove to be the most hotly contested division. Last year's 'Mini Nationals' saw the South East Taipans and the South East Sharks battle it out for the National Title, which was taken by the Taipans for the first time in the Touch Nationals short history. Fantastic progress was made by both the North West Blades and the West Wildcats last year and they will be out to try and split the South Easts's domination of the Women's Open category.
Games to watch;
- North West Blades V West Wildcats (10.30am Saturday 6th)
- South East Sharks V South East Taipans (12.20pm Sunday 7th)
- Midlands Tigers V West Wildcats (12.20pm Sunday 7th)
Players to watch;
- Susan Kidd (South East Taipans):After a fantastic NTS season and an outstanding European Championships, Susan is going to be tough for any defence to deal with. Her brilliant speed from half is going to be a real threat for the Taipans as they look to defend their title in 2014.
- Sadi Meakin (Midlands Tigers):Sadi has exploded on to the touch circuit and has not only established herself as an important member of her club team (Nottingham Hoods) but also her Regional squad. Sadi had a fantastic European Championships playing for the England Women's Open and I am sure will be looking to build on her success in the middle of the Midlands attack.
- Susannah Hudson (South East Sharks):Susannah was an important member of the London Scorpions throughout the NTS season and also the gold medal winning England Women's Open team that were crowned 2014 European Champions. Susannah's long ball and ability to read the game is enough to scare any defence, and I am positive each team will be keeping a close eye on her when they come up against the Sharks.
- Sarah Acheson (North West Blades):Sarah has been dominating domestically for Manchester Chargers and was a pivotal member of the gold medal winning England Women's Open team that were crowned 2014 European Champions. Sarah's lightening scoop and immeasurable intensity will not only have her opponents concerned, but it will also provide her North West Blades team the belief they can compete with any team at the 2014 Nationals.
