England Touch Referees support Royal Air Force friendly games

Hot off the back of hosting the Touch World Cup back in July, England was once again hosting some more international games of Touch, as RAF Northolt and the Kings Colour Squadron took on the visiting Japanese Self-Defence Force!

Round robin games were played at RAF Northolt followed by an exchange of gifts and presentation of the Station Commanders Coin to the most valuable players in each team and the match officials - Nick and Mags from Saracens Touch and England Touch’s General Manager, Sammie Phillips, who were all very honoured to receive such a prestigious award.

Sammie commented: “Most of the players had a rugby background but not many had played the international version of Touch before. However, they picked up the rules quickly and the tries started to flow.

“It was great to see players of all ages, genders and sporting experience playing together and enjoying the friendly competition.

“With Touch growing rapidly across the world - and many nations such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA already playing Touch widely - we hope many more military personnel can enjoy playing Touch with allies when travelling overseas, as well as at UK bases too.”
