Pools confirmed for 2024 Mens NTS and Womens NTS ahead of Round 1

The pools and Round 1 fixtures have been confirmed for Divisions 1, 2 and 3 of both the Mens National Touch Series and Womens National Touch Series.

England Touch takes the National Touch Series to Fullerians RFC on the outskirts of Watford for the first time this Saturday (Divisions 1 and 2) and Sunday (Division 3).

Fullerians was one of Hertfordshire Rugby Union’s founding clubs, but it was mired in scandal in the 1950s when – according to the club’s website – newspapers as far away as Australia screamed blue murder when word got out that the Fullerians first team was running a sweepstake to guess when a 14-match losing streak might end.

Fullerians has its roots in Watford Grammar School, and alumni include England’s Josh Lewsey and Wales’s John Taylor, both former British and Irish Lions.

The format for 2024 remains as it was 12 months ago, with Divisions 1 and 2 having 40-minute games and the tournament taking Rounds 1 and 2 to be completed. Old Wesley Men and NQ Rebels Women lead the seedings, but in a World Cup year it is anyone’s guess which club will lift the silverware.

Old Wesley are also entering a second Mens team into Division 3 for the first time, and are joined by debutants Southampton Stormers and Clapham Feelers in the Mens competition, with Wolves giving some of London’s promising young players a chance to shine in the Womens competition.

Division 3 will have 20-minute games, with the two Rounds being separate events – whoever has the most league points after the two rounds will be crowned champions.

Tap off on both Saturday and Sunday is 10am, and all are welcome.
