Seniors and Masters Nationals preview

Following the guidance which was released this morning by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport for the period of national mourning, England Touch can confirm that this weekend’s Seniors and Masters Nationals will proceed as planned.

The first games on Saturday will be preceded by a period of two minutes’ silence, with all players, coaches, referees and supporters encouraged to come together on Field 1 to commemorate the life of HM Queen Elizabeth II, who sadly passed away on Thursday afternoon.

2022’s categories are the same as 12 months ago, namely Womens 27, Mens 30, Womens 35, Mens 40 and Mens 45. Last year the honours were shared around, with only Midland Tigers winning two titles (W27, M45) and the others going to the South West Saxons – who beat the South East Sharks in a thrilling M30 final – along with the South East Sharks (W35) and South East Taipans (M40).

This time around there are four teams in the W27, W35 and M40 categories, with a round-robin followed by semi-finals and finals. Five teams in the M30 will play a round-robin before the top two teams face off in the final, with the six teams in the M45 following a similar format.

Saturday’s action taps off at 10am, with Sunday’s first game at 9am. Live streaming from the England Touch YouTube channel will be via the home page of this website.
