University Touch Championships heads south to Guildford

The inaugural University Touch Championships moves to Guildford this weekend for Round 1 South.

Fifteen teams will be playing at Surrey Sports Park, following the 12 which competed in the North last Saturday, with universities as far afield as Essex and Exeter being represented.

Bath and Exeter are sending their usual complements of teams, with Bath looking to replicate the form which took them to the overall title in 2021/22 and Exeter beginning the charge towards regaining the crown themselves.

But the likes of Cardiff and Bristol will have something to say about that, the two universities having come on in leaps and bounds over the past year, and Surrey are continuing their own development with two teams being entered.

It is always good to have Southampton, RVC and Oxford in the tournament, and a massive welcome to Essex, who join an England Touch event for the first time.

The first round of matches tap off at 9:30am with the Cup final at 3:55pm.
