New Governance Director appointment completes England Touch executive management

England Touch has completed its executive management team for 2018 with the appointment of Neil Smith as the Association’s new Governance Director.

Smith, who is himself an active Touch player, brings years of relevant experience to the role. He is an Information Governance Manager at Capita, having previously held similar positions with Easysoft and the College of Policing.

With sports – both professional and amateur – seeing an increasing emphasis on data protection and overall governance standards, Chief Operating Officer Gregg Cropper says it is vital that an expanding national governing body such as England Touch has robust procedures in place.

“Touch is an inclusive sport that sees all ages and genders of players competing alongside each other,” he said. “And because England Touch relies on volunteers at all levels from grassroots to the elite it is vital that we have suitable governance procedures and processes in place.

“Neil brings a wealth of experience in the sector and a strong understanding of Touch as a sport, and we’re delighted that he’s offered to help us in this important area.”

Smith can be contacted via governance@englandtouch.org.uk by clubs who would like advice and support in their own governance procedures.

England Touch has also added to its Marketing and PR team with the appointment of Helen Walstow as Social Media Co-ordinator and will become a familiar face at the upcoming National Touch Series tournaments and European Touch Championships.
